Get your flu shot.

That's the message from healthcare organizations in Oneida, Herkimer and Madison Counties.

Phyllis Ellis, Director of the Oneida County Health Department, says flu shots are recommended for persons six months of age and older.

Ellis says the flu can be contagious before symptoms appear, so the best way to prevent it is to get vaccinated.

She says vaccinations are available from a variety of sources, including physicians or local pharmacies.

For more information on the flu vaccine, you can contact the Oneida, Herkimer or Madison County Health Departments.
