Chenango County Teen Dies In House Fire

A Chenango County teen was killed Tuesday morning in a house fire on Route 8 in Mount Upton.

The Chenango County Sheriff's Office says deputies found the house completely engulfed in flames when they arrived.  They say a 16-year was unable to escape the fire.

The victim's name is being withheld pending notification of family members.

Authorities say the cause of the fire appears to be a wood stove, which was the main heating source at the home.
