A Clinton woman who was out running routine errands decided to buy two Lottery scratch-off tickets at the Kinney Drugs on Franklin Avenue in Clinton.

One of "The $2,500 a Week for Life" tickets turned into a $2.5 million payday for Dana Walsh and her husband Robert.

The New York Lottery's Yolanda Vega was in Clinton on Friday to present an over-sized check to the Walsh's.

Dana Walsh said she had to check the ticket several times to make sure it was real.

“This is all still very unreal for both of us,” said Walsh. “Our initial plans for the money are to pay off our mortgage and our son’s student loans. After that, we’ll all get new cars.”

The Walsh's opted to split their prize and chose the lump sum payment option.

Each will receive a check totaling $691,061, after required holdings.
