Cops: 6 Family Members Charged For Growing Pot On Property
CLERMONT, N.Y. (AP) — State police say they've charged six members of the same New York family with running a marijuana growing operation on their rural upstate property.
Troopers say they started an investigation on Tuesday into a series of crimes being committed at a home in the southern Columbia County town of Clermont, on the Hudson River 40 miles (64 kilometers) south of Albany.
Police say six members of the Karcher family ranging in age from 17 to 68 have been charged after troopers searched the property and found pot being grown there.
Troopers say they seized several illegal weapons, heroin, pot plants and more than 10 pounds of processed marijuana ready for sale.
Police say a 41-year-old male member of the family was also charged with kidnapping.
All six are being held in the county jail without bail.
