Could overseas hackers control gas pumps in the United States?

MetroSource is reporting that researchers at Fox News have been told by Trend Micro, an information technology security firm, that they "...set up fake gas stations and pumps and found that hackers from Syria and Iran could breach them and change their settings."

The consultant said that hackers were able to withhold the codes and passwords belonging to those stations until ransom was paid.

Experts estimate that approximately 5,300 gas stations in the United States could be vulnerable to such attacks via the Internet.
