Eastern Air Defense Sector Commander Remembers 9/11 15 Years Later

Sunday will mark the 15th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Recently, the Commander of the Eastern Air Defense Sector was able to sit down and discuss his memories of the attack.

Colonel Emil Filkorn is the Commander of the Eastern Air Defense Sector (EADS) at Griffiss Business and Technology Park in Rome. Colonel Filkorn was a training officer at EADS on September 11, 2001.

The EADS command is responsible for air defense for the Eastern United States and played a major role on 9/11.

We had a chance to sit down with Colonel Filkorn and discuss his memories of 9/11, the role EADS plays in keeping the nation safe and the latest challenge they face.
