Electronics recycling in Oneida and Herkimer Counties increased by nearly 50% in 2015.

The Oneida-Herkimer Solid Waste Authority says 1.2 million pounds of electronic waste collected last year was diverted from the Regional Landfill.

Electronics like computers and televisions can't be disposed of as garbage and cannot be placed in your curbside recycling bin.

Residents and businesses can drop-off unwanted electronics at the Solid Waste Authority for free.  For more information on electronics recycling and for a full list of electronic waste accepted by the Authority, call 733-1224 or visit www.oshwa.org.

Since 2003, the Authority has recycled more than 6 million pounds of electronic waste.
