The first of five forums scheduled in Utica to discuss the Extended Learning Time Grant will be held tonight.

Tonight's event starts at 6:30pm at Donovan Middle School.

School Superintendent Bruce Karam is inviting members of the Utica City School District to participate in the process.  Results of this process, and the input received, will help determine whether the district will accept a multi-million dollar grant designed to enhance educational opportunities for Utica students by extending the school day by approximately ninety minutes.  Opponents argue that the longer school day does a disservice to students.  Proponents say the slightly longer day will give students an advantage they do not currently enjoy.
