Utica, NY (WIBX) - The former Cosmopolitan Center on Whitesboro Street is set to be sold, the Utica Common Council voted to move the sale of the city-owned property to committee until their next meeting. According to Mayor Palmieri, the buyer is Tony Cristiano and the sale price is $25,000.

The Mayor says the property will be turned into a sports bar that's family friendly, featuring a batting cage, basketball and volleyball courts, bocce ball, a bakery and a delicatessen.

Mayor Palmieri brokered the deal and he's pleased the property will be put back on the tax roles after being vacant for nearly ten years. "Nowhere in the City of Utica has something of this magnitude, so it's going to be a gem next to the Auditorium, the attraction will be magnificent and it's going to be a great place to bring your family" said Palmieri.

There will be a Public Hearing on the sale of the property at the next Utica Common Council meeting on January 9th.
