Former Oneida County Undersheriff Peter Paravati Passes Away
The Oneida County Sheriff's Office is mourning the death of former Undersheriff Peter Paravati.
Paravati served as the second in command of the Sheriff's Office from January of 1995 through December of 2010 under retired Sheriff Daniel Middaugh.
During his tenure, Paravati oversaw the opening of a new jail, which added an additional 448 beds, and help modernized the correctional facility.
Prior to becoming Oneida County Undersheriff, he worked for the New York State Commission of Corrections for many years and while there, was honored by New York State Governor Mario Cuomo for his commitment and dedication in dealing with jail related issues throughout the state.
Sheriff Rob Maciol says the Sheriff's Office sends its sincere condolences to the family of Paravati during this difficult time.
