Former Utica Councilman and Council President Frank Meola has announced his intention to run for the Common Council's 4th Ward seat.

Meola served on the Council from 2004 to 2010 and was Council President  from 2014 to 2016.

He pledges to walk every neighborhood in the 4th Ward and listen to the ideas and concerns of residents.

Meola said, "In order for Utica to move forward, and progress to the next level, we need elected officials who want to work as a team and put the needs of our community first.   I'm excited about Utica's future and, as my track record and reputation on the Council proves, I will work with all willing partners to ensure Utica achieves its absolute potential."

Meola, a Democrat, is also seeking the endorsement of the Working Families and Independence Parties.

The 4th Ward seat is currently held by Joe Marino, who is running for Mayor.
