Friend Announces Run For Utica Common Council Seat

Businesswoman and longtime Utica resident Celeste Friend has announced her candidacy for the Utica Common Council's Third Ward seat.

She made her announcement today at Cafe Domenico in South Utica

Friend says she's running as a Progressive Democrat.

Her platform includes creating a more transparent democracy within Utica, a thriving local and independent economy and building a more livable city for everyone.

She's running under the motto of "Utica For All Of Us".

Friend moved to the Mohawk Valley in July 2002.  In 2008 she started her jewelry design and production business, Celeste Friend Designs.

The Third Ward seat is currently held by Robert DeSanctis.
