Genesis Group Presents College Welcome Initiative

Utica, NY (WIBX) - Eleven area colleges were on hand today as the Genesis Group unveiled its 2011-2012 College Welcome Initiative.

The program provides students with discounts from nearly 70 local businesses in the Mohawk Valley. Students are also encouraged to take part in community event events posted on the group’s website.

Ray Durso, Jr., Executive Director for the Genesis Group, explains the impetus behind offering these incentives.

“We have 25,000 college students on eleven area campuses," Durso said. "It’s so important to make these students feel welcome in our community and Genesis is proud to be a part of this type of project that can create a positive impact on the community.” 

The Genesis Group is also working closely with Oneida County Tourism and area Chambers of Commerce.
