Hamilton’s ties to Albany highlighted in tours, exhibit

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — Long before his life story became the toast of the Great White Way, Alexander Hamilton was a hit in Albany.

The Times Union of Albany reports (http://bit.ly/298uOwW ) New York's capital is finally capitalizing on the "Hamilton" Broadway musical craze with a lineup of attractions focusing on the founding father who got hitched in the upstate city and spent time in the area.

Hamilton married Elizabeth Schuyler, daughter of wealthy landowner Philip Schuyler, in 1780 at the Schuyler family's Albany mansion, now a state historic site.

The site is offering guided and self-guided tours that focus on Hamilton's life in Albany. They're paired with an exhibit at the Albany Institute of History and Art that highlights Hamilton's Albany connections and features some of his family heirlooms and papers.
