Hazardous Milk Spill in New Berlin
Authorities are looking into the cause of a crash that sent Department of Environmental Conservation officials scrambling to the scene in Chenango County.
A tanker full of milk rolled down an embankment near the Unadilla River on State Route 8 near County Route 25 in New Berlin shortly before 9:30 p.m. October 11, spilling three-quarters of its load.
Milk is toxic to aquatic life. Officials say they don’t believe any of the milk got into the river and the driver was not hurt.
