A number of employees from St. Elizabeth Medical Center are in Albany today to urge lawmakers to reinstate $300 million in funding to help build a new hospital in Utica.

The workers are members of UFCW District Union Local One's Professional and Health Care Division.

The $300 million in funding was re-appropriated and the union members are urging decision makers to put the amount back in this year's state budget.

Gregory Gorea, Executive Assistant to the the President of UFCW Local One, says union members and the community cannot be left in limbo. Gorea says hospital funding is their top priority to ensure a better health care network in Utica.
