Utica, NY (WIBX) -  A small crowd gathered at The House of the Good Shepherd in Utica today to attend a ribbon cutting for the group’s new Wellness Path.

The one-mile path is funded through community contributions with assistance from Excellus BlueCross BlueShield and the Horne Family Foundation.

Eve Van de Wal, regional president of Excellus BlueCross BlueShield, is excited about the partnership.

“Excellus is really proud to be a sponsor of this and it’s a good fit between our mission of promoting healthy lifestyles and also it’s really good to partner with the House of the Good Shepherd, who does so much for the community...”

Denise Cavanaugh, business development director at The House of Good Shepherd, says that more than 800 children, employees and their families will have access to the path year-round.
