It’s Cyber Monday And It’s Expected To Bring Retailers More Than A Billion Dollars Today
Marcy, NY (WIBX) - Many believe that the term "Cyber Monday" first gained popularity in 2005, in a press release from the National Retail Federation's Shop.org. Since then, the application of the phrase has only increased. Now "Cyber Monday" is considered one of the biggest shopping days of the year.
It could be a win-win for both consumers and retailers. Stores featuring many online-only deals make a little extra cash and shoppers cash in on those bargains without long lines or the need to find parking spaces in crowded malls.
Shop.org projects that about 122 million people will take advantage of Cyber Monday deals this year, adding more than one billion dollars in Black Friday-related weekend retail revenue.
If you are on the clock while you are shopping, be considerate as well as cautious. According to a RetailMeNot.com survey eighty-five percent of consumers responding said that they would spend about three hours of their work day doing their Cyber Monday shopping.
