JAMESTOWN, N.Y. (AP) — The National Comedy Center that opened in upstate New York last summer has a serious new title.

It's now the "Official National Comedy Center of the United States."

President Donald Trump cemented the designation on March 12 with his signature on bipartisan legislation.

The bill recognizes that the center in Jamestown exists for the exclusive purpose of celebrating all forms of comedy.

The $50 million interactive museum was based on the vision of the western New York city's most famous resident, the late Lucille Ball.

It opened after 10 years of planning and includes interactive exhibits, along with props and other materials from early Vaudeville to the latest viral memes.
