A Kirkland man is under arrest following an investigation into a stolen wallet from a New Hartford restaurant.

According to New Hartford Police, officers received the complaint on January 26th and the investigation revealed a woman had changed seats while dining at Carmella's Cafe and left her purse behind.

After being reunited with her purse and returning home, she realized her wallet was missing from the purse.

New Hartford Police were able to review security footage from the restaurant and after posting the footage to Facebook were able to identify the alleged suspect as 61-year-old Greg Bala of Kirkland.

Bala turned himself into police, was arrested and charged with one count of Grand Larceny and one count of Petit Larceny. He was given an appearance ticket and will appear in New Hartford Town Court at a later date.
