The Labor Day weekend will be a busy one for travel.

Ed Welsh of AAA Central New York says 34.1 million Americans will be hitting the road this weekend, the highest number since the recession.

Welsh says 85% of people will be traveling by car, a more than 4% increase over last year.

For those traveling by car, the average price for a gallon of gas in the Utica-Rome market is $3.81.

That's 17 cents less than last year at this time.
