Legendary Radio & TV Icon Dick Clark Dead At 82
Utica, NY (WIBX) - American radio and television icon Dick Clark is dead at the age of 82. Clark is reported to have died this morning after suffering a massive heart attack.
Clark may be best known as the host of the long-running "American Bandstand" television show. Clark also hosted "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin Eve" for many years. Clark started his television and radio career right here in the Mohawk Valley.
He started his career in broadcasting at WRUN, in Utica as a weatherman and news announcer.His father owned the station at the time. Clark was also a popular voice on WIBX (photo). He transitioned into television work at WKTV.
He recently suffered a stroke that kept him from hosting his very popular New Year's Eve show.
