Local Accountant Sentenced For Failure To File Tax Returns

A New Hartford accountant has been sentenced to 12 months in prison for failure to file tax returns.

The U.S. Attorney's Office says 53-year old James Becker was also sentenced to one year of supervised release for failing to file his personal income tax returns for the years 2012 to 2015.

He also was ordered pay restitution to the IRS in the amount of just over $162,000.

Becker, who operated Becker’s Accounting Services in Whitesboro, pleaded guilty in June to four counts of failing to file his tax returns despite having gross income in excess of $100,000 in each of the tax years.
