USA Luge Slider Search Coming To Utica This Weekend

The White Castle USA Luge Slider Search is coming to Utica this weekend.

The Slider Search will take place on Saturday and Sunday on Cornelia Street with two sessions each day from 9:00 to noon and from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.

The event uses wheeled sleds to introduce girls and boys, ages 9 to 13, to the sport of Luge.

It was at a similar event that Remsen's Erin Hamlin was discovered and became a two-time world champion and Olympic Bronze Medalist.

She's expected to be in attendance on Sunday.

“I’m a believer in chasing your dreams,” Utica Mayor Robert Palmieri said. “I’ve seen so many people turn opportunity into lifelong success. Erin Hamlin is a great example of that, and I hope the next example will be right here on the weekend sliding down Cornelia Street.”
