BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — A 31-year-old Utica man has pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicular assault for a New Year's Day crash in Buffalo that seriously injured four people, including three pedestrians.
Abdikadir Jaffar faces 3-10 years in prison when he's sentenced in November.
Prosecutors say Jaffar had a blood alcohol level more than twice the legal limit when he struck a car on Richmond Avenue in Buffalo and continued onto a sidewalk shortly after 1 a.m. on New Year's Day.
A passenger in the car suffered a concussion and three pedestrians were seriously injured. A 16-year-old boy lost his leg, another teen suffered back injuries and a 62-year-old man had a broken pelvis and two broken legs.
