A Utica man who killed a cat with a crossbow has been sentenced to one year in the Oneida County Jail.

25-year old Theodore Chrystie pleaded guilty in October to torturing and injuring an animal in connection with the incident last April.

It's the second time Chrystie has pleaded guilty to animal cruelty charges.

He was sentenced to three years probation in 2010 for beating a puppy in the back of an SUV in the parking lot of the Big Lots store in North Utica.
