Moviegoers at Marquee Cinemas in New Hartford were briefly evacuated Sunday Night.

However, they were soon allowed back into the theater. Management refused comment, but a patron told WIBX she believed it was just some smoke caused by burned popcorn that triggered the alarm.

No fire personnel were observed on scene as of 9:00 p.m. and customers were being allowed back into the theater.

Patrons said they were told they could return to watch the remainder of their movie, or were given a pass to see future show. Those arriving for late shows said they were told by staff that their movie start times were being pushed back.
