Petaluma, CA (WIBX) - It is a dubious honor, but one that Britain's Bev Nicholson and her Chinese Crested "Mugly" are proud to share.

The eight-year old rescue dog who does therapy work with children was flown across the pond to participate in the annual Petaluma Contest that attracts world-wide attention at the Sonoma-Marin fair.

Beating off  the competition that included a dog named "Icky" was no easy task, but for their efforts Bev and Ugly will receive a trophy, a $1,000 cash prize, and a year's worth of dog cookies.

With very little fur and lots of wily white whiskers this is not the first time that Mugly has been so lucky.  In 2005 he was crowned Britain's ugliest dog.
