Oneida, NY (WIBX) - It was a busy weekend on Oneida Lake for the Oneida County Sheriff's Marine Patrol Unit. Two arrests were made, and multiple tickets and warnings were issued to people violating the rules that govern Oneida Lake.

Officials say the warnings were for NYS navigation violations such as improper navigation lights, no sound producing devices and no visual distress signals. Tickets were issued for insufficient personal flotation devices, unregistered vessels, no fire extinguisher, no visual distress signal, no navigation lights and not having a anchor. There was one arrest for boating while intoxicated and another for unlawful possession of marijuana.

The Oneida County Sheriff's Office say the outcome of the night patrols serves as a reminder to issue another warning to boaters about being adequately prepared, and to follow all safety guidelines before each recreational outing, or face a penalty.
