Clinton, NY (WIBX) - A new State Department of Transportation study is calling the Route 12B Corridor "statistically safe", according to the findings of an eighteen month long examination. The study took a hard look at issues relating to traffic volume and speed, where accidents were occurring and what were the contributing factors of those accidents.

The study found no high-accident locations on the 16-mile stretch of two-lane highway and concluded that accident rates on that roadway is statistacally lower than other, comparable two-lane highways within New York State.

Roughly, 9,000 to 12,000 vehicles travel on some section of that roadway each day.
