NORTH BLENHEIM, N.Y. (AP) — A 358-mile hiking trail stretching north from Manhattan through upstate New York park land has a new foot bridge.

State officials say the new footbridge along the southern border of Mine Kill State Park southwest of Albany will make hiking on the Long Path easier and safer.

Hikers used to have to ford a stream at that spot.

The Long Path starts in Manhattan, runs through the Catskills and connects to John Boyd Thacher State Park, just outside of Albany.
