NY Attorney General Wants To Investigate Police Shootings Of Unarmed Suspects

New York's Attorney General wants to investigate police shootings that result in the deaths of unarmed suspects.

Eric Schneiderman says he's asked Governor Andrew Cuomo to grant him the authority to act as a special prosecutor in such cases.

The AG says he made the request to restore pubic confidence in the criminal justice system.

Several proposals for reforming the criminal justice system are expected to be considered when the State Legislature reconvenes,

Schneiderman says the proposed order would expire when the Legislature acts to permanently address this problem.

Schneiderman was joined by a broad coalition of elected officials in outlining his proposal.
