NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities say a 7-year-old New York boy is hospitalized with severe injuries to his head and face after he was attacked by his relative's two Rottweilers.

Police in the city of Niagara Falls say they responded Wednesday afternoon to a report of a child being attacked by dogs. When officers arrived they found a boy bleeding profusely from bite wounds and a woman struggling to hold onto to one of two male dogs, which both weighed over 100 pounds.

One of the officers carried the boy to an ambulance Officials say he's listed in critical condition at a Buffalo hospital. The boy is the nephew of the dogs' owner.

The dogs were taken to a local animal shelter, where they were euthanized.

Officials say the boy was playing with a younger relative when the dogs attacked him.
