NY Man Surrenders After Standoff With Police
BOSTON, N.Y. (AP) — A 30-year-old man is in custody after authorities say he barricaded himself inside his western New York home during a domestic dispute with his wife.
State police say Erie County 911 dispatchers received the call around 10:30 a.m. Monday from a home in the rural town of Boston, south of Buffalo.
When troopers arrived, a woman told them she had an argument with her husband and he was in his bedroom, possibly with a shotgun.
Police surrounded the home and closed nearby roads as troopers tried to make contact with the man. A state police negotiator inside a SWAT vehicle used a loud speaker to prompt the man to answer his cellphone.
The man surrendered to police after about four hours.
He was taken to a Buffalo hospital for evaluation.
