BLOOMINGDALE, N.Y. (AP) — The mysterious and unsolved disappearance of a 75-year-old woman from her Adirondack home 16 years ago remains under investigation by New York State Police.

Troopers say Henry Olsen contacted state police in June 2000 to report his wife Harriet was missing. He said he last saw her inside their home in the northern Essex County hamlet of Bloomingdale while having dinner that evening.

Olsen said he spent some time in his garage before returning a short time later to find his wife gone. A search of the area by state police turned up no sign of the woman.

A two-week search was launched involving state forest rangers, but that also failed to provide any substantial leads.

Troopers say Harriet Olsen suffered from Alzheimer's disease and it was normal for her to take short walks.
