Oneida County, NY (WIBX) - The Oneida County Health Department is holding a rabies immunization clinic at the Clark Mills Firehouse on Tuesday, May 10th.  Officials say warmer weather increases exposure to the rabies virus, and are urging residents to get their pets vaccinated. State law also mandates that all dogs, cats and ferrets, older than three months, be vaccinated against rabies.

Animals should be leashed or transported in a pet carrier when visiting the clinic. The event is happening on May 10th from 5:30 to 7:30 PM. Organizers are asking for a $10 donation to help cover some of the cost of providing the service. For more information, visit www.ocgov.net.

The Herkimer County Public Health Department is also holding a rabies vaccination clinic on Thursday, May 12th from 6 - 7:30 p.m. at the Dolgeville Fire House. Organizers are asking for a $5 donation to cover the cost of the service and also require all pets be on leashes or in pet carriers. They say cats and ferrets can be transported in a pillowcase if owners don't have other carrying methods.
