Herkimer, NY (WIBX) - There is no closure yet in the Catherine Koestner case.

However, the Herkimer County District Attorney is announcing one important conclusion today.

Herkimer County District Attorney Jeffrey Carpenter announced at a news conference this afternoon that Koestner died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

That is probably not what many want to hear, he says the forensic investigation is also showing that Koestner was drinking on the night of her death.

Carpenter was careful to say that although alcohol was a factor in her death, they are still not certain whether it was an accident or suicide, and the investigation will remain open pending further investigation.

Catherine Koestner, a teacher at Proctor High School in Utica, died August 25, 2012 in Old Forge, New York.
