WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities in Westchester County are warning residents to be on the lookout for aggressive coyotes that have attacked several people and pets.

The attacks occurred Wednesday evening and Thursday in Hastings-on-Hudson and Yonkers. In one incident a dog was killed. In another, a postal worker was bitten.

Yonkers police late Thursday said they had already "dispatched" one coyote near the Dunwoodie Golf Course. They say a second coyote remains at large.

Health officials urge residents in the area to not approach the animal but to contact police. They say the coyote may be rabid.
