Oneida County is moving up in the newly released county health rankings that look at the overall health of the county compared with the health of the other counties in New York state.

Oneida County is ranked 43rd out of 62 counties, which is up six places from last year.  The county also showed improvement in the major category, Health Outcomes.

The data compiled in the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation rankings employ a variety of measures including access to clinical services, social and economic factors and health behaviors.

Oneida County Health Department officials say they'll use the data as a guide while implementing current  health initiatives in the county.
