Marcy, NY (WIBX) - A Martinsburg man leads lawmen on a high-speed chase while driving his mom's vehicle. According to the Oneida County Sheriff's Office, 23-year old Benjamin Platt refused to stop for a deputy when he attempted to pull him over on Route 12 in Remsen.

Authorities say Platt tried speeding away from the deputy and the State Police, at speeds in excess of one hundred miles an hour. The chase extended through the Towns of Steuben and Trenton and the Villages of Barneveld and Holland Patent. Platt was finally apprehended on Fox Road in the Town of Marcy.

According to authorities, Platt, who is currently on parole, was caught with marijuana and hypodermic needles. He was charged with several violations and misdemeanors, including Fleeing a Police Officer. He was arraigned in the Town of Marcy Court and sent to the Oneida County Jail.
