The new Herkimer County Legislative Chairman is Bernard Peplinski of Ilion.

Peplinski was sworn in as the County's leader at the board's quarterly meeting on Monday afternoon.  Peplinski praised members of the legislature and cited a list of important issues that need to be worked on for the County, including resolving the jail site, Nano Technology opportunities, taking care of the existing employers such as Remington Arms and growing the County's business parks.

"We have to work together," Peplinski said during his acceptance speech.

Outgoing Chairman Vincent Bono of Frankfort was named Vice Chairman for the next 2-year term.  Bono has served on the Legislature for the last 14 years and the last four as Chairman.  Term limits required Bono to step down.

Members of the Legislature were also sworn in for the new term including 5 incoming members.
