Oneida County will complete two major flood mitigation projects along the Sauquoit Creek this year.

One is on Oneida Street in the Town of Paris, the other is at the Main Street Bridge in the Village of Whitesboro.

County Executive Anthony Picente says the county will be providing $215,000 in funding to the Sauquoit Creek Basin Inter-municipal Commission.

Picente says the money comes from the county's operating surplus.

He says these are the types of major infrastructure projects that the county can do because of strong fiscal management practices.

In 2013, the county made $500,000 available to fund six flood mitigation projects.
