FULTON, N.Y. (AP) — One person was injured when a small plane crash-landed in the middle of a street in upstate New York.

It happened in the Oswego County city of Fulton just before 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

Fulton's Police Chief Orlo Green tells WHAM in Rochester that pilot Michael Simpson was flying from Malone, New York to the Oswego County Airport when his plane apparently lost power.

Green says it looks like the pilot "may have tried to land on the highway and caught the pole with the wing of the plane."

Firefighters say Simpson was conscious when he was pulled from the wreckage. His injuries appear to be non-life threatening.

Green says "he's a very lucky man."

The Federal Aviation Administration is to investigate.
