ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities say they've identified a body found at a western New York recycling center as that of a homeless man who had climbed into a large trash bin.

Police in Rochester say a worker noticed the body Monday morning among a pile of recyclables at the Monroe County Recycling Center.

Officials on Tuesday identified the body as that of 65-year-old Nathan Ayers.

Investigators say Ayers got into a large metal garbage bin near a school just after midnight Monday. Police say the bin was emptied into a truck around 5:50 a.m. Monday. His body was found a few hours later at the recycling center.

Police believe Ayers died before the bin was emptied and are ruling his death as an accident.
