Police: Man Sets Girlfriend, Himself On Fire At Coffee Shop
TONAWANDA, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities in upstate New York say a man set a woman on fire outside a coffee shop.
Police in the city of Tonawanda say the man contacted his 25-year-old girlfriend, who works at the shop, and told her to come outside Monday afternoon. Authorities say the man then doused her in flammable liquid and set the woman on fire.
Police say the man also set himself on fire by accident due to his proximity to the woman. Both were taken to a hospital with serious and potentially life-threatening injuries.
Officials say they are investigating it as a domestic violence case involving child custody. Police say they expect to charge the man with attempted murder, but charges are still pending.
Tonawanda is just north of Buffalo.
