Prayer Vigil Held for Basketball Players in Bus Crash
GRIFFITH, Ind. (AP) — Members of the Griffith, Indiana, community have held a prayer vigil for the high school basketball players and coaches injured in a bus crash.
The Chicago Tribune reports about 300 people attended a prayer service Sunday afternoon in Griffith's Central Park. Point guard Martin Schiele wiped away tears as he sang "Amazing Grace" with others in the crowd on Palm Sunday.
A bus carrying 27 members of the Griffith High School boys basketball team and their coaches was headed to a state tournament game Saturday when it was sideswiped by a car and rolled over in a ditch on Interstate 65.
All 20 students were treated and released, as well as three coaches, the team trainer, a ball boy and the driver.
