Public Comment Period Underway On State Education Proposals

The New York State Education Department's public comment period on proposed changes to the Annual Professional Performance Review is now underway.

Senator Joseph Griffo is encouraging residents to e-mail suggestions to the education department regarding teacher evaluation and student testing.

You can e-mail your comments to Eval2015@nysed.gov.

Griffo says he'll be writing to the State Board of Regents, making his opinions known as well.  Griffo says he believes there should be less testing, not more, and that local school districts should have more control over choosing how their teachers are evaluated.

The Education Department has set a June 30th deadline to revise its educational and performance review plan.
