Report: Donald Sterling Has Cancer
Hard to believe that less than a week after becoming the biggest villain in the sports world, Clippers owner Donald Sterling maybe the garnering a bit of sympathy amid reports that he's battling cancer.
The New York Post first reported that Sterling, who has emerged as the sports world's bigoted brute after a voice recording of him asking his mistress not to bring African Americans to games - among other things, has been battling prostate cancer for sometime.
The article quotes a source saying, 'They thought he was going to die two years ago.
It continues with this nugget of info that again paints Sterling in a negative light:
In an ironic twist, Sterling refused to pay for prostate-cancer surgery a decade ago for then-Clippers assistant coach Kim Hughes.
“I contacted the Clippers about medical coverage and they said the surgery wouldn’t be covered,” Hughes told The Journal Times of Racine, Wis., in 2011.
Earlier this week, new NBA Commissioner Adam Silver banned Sterling from the league for life - meaning he can't attend games, practices or make team decisions - fined him $2.5 million dollars and said he'd try to force the NBA's longest tenured owner to sell the franchise.
In order to oust Sterling from the league, 75% of league owners will need to vote him out.
