Rivers, Chargers Quiet Bills
Phillip Rivers hooked up with Eddie Royal on a pair of short touchdown passes helping the San Diego Chargers up end the Buffalo Bills, 22-10, at Ralph Wilson Stadium on Sunday.
Buffalo (2-1) could only find the end zone once, an 11-yard TD pass from E.J. Manuel to Fred Jackson that cut the Bills' deficit to 20-10 late in the third quarter.
The Chargers (2-1) were efficient despite losing RB Danny Woodhead early in the first quarter after regular starting RB Ryan Mathews was scratched from the lineup earlier this week. Malcolm Floyd had just two catches, but each was for 49 yards. On the short end, Royal reeled in TD grabs of three and five-yards.
Jackson was Buffalo's leading receiver (8 for 78) and rusher (6 for 36). Scott Chander added four catches and 74 yards while rookie Sammy Watkins was kept quiet - two catches for 19 yards - after a break game last week.
The Bills are in Houston (2-1) next Sunday. The Chargers host Jacksonville (0-3).
