Rome police arrested a man for allegedly breaking into an apartment building.
Last night around 10:15 officers responded to an alarm on North George street where they found Michael Townsend, 39, of Rome climbing out of a broken window with several pieces of copper piping.

Police say Townsend had cut the piping from the plumbing system in the building's basement.

He was arrested and charged with second degree burglary and is currently being held in Rome police lockup.
